Low-FODMAP diet for IBS

The short versionThe most-studied diet for IBS, and real responses in trials. Both major gut guidelines back it but rate the evidence low. It's meant in phases (cut, reintroduce, personalise) and works best with a dietitian.
The studies
American College of Gastroenterology guideline, 2021
Suggests a limited trial of low FODMAP for global IBS symptoms. Conditional recommendation, very low-quality evidence.
British Society of Gastroenterology guideline, 2021
Second-line dietary therapy, supervised by a trained dietitian, with reintroduction tailored to tolerance. Weak recommendation, very low-quality evidence.
Why B, not A
The evidence is rated low, the benefit is short-term, and it's done in phases with professional support.
